Ruqya / Ruqyah
Ruqya is the recitation of the noble Qur’an or any authentic prayers taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for healing or protective purposes. Treating sickness by means of the noble Qur'an is the revival of an altruistic Sunnah.
Conditions for Ruqyah to Be Successful
1
Sincere Intention
Ruqyah is a form of du‘ā’. The intention should be sincere and focused on seeking Allah’s help to remove harm or evil through the words of the Qur’ān.
2
Conviction and Trust in Allah
Ruqyah should be recited clearly and with firm conviction, faith and trust in Allah. The belief should remain that Allah alone is the One who grants healing, while the Qur’ān and Ruqyah are a means of seeking it.
3
Patience and Consistency
Regular recitation, du‘ā’ and other prescribed practices should be maintained with patience and perseverance. Results may take time, so one should remain steadfast and continue to place their trust in Allah.
